Every surface of every vessel has been worked by hand — roses emerging from the metal, acanthus leaves curling at the shoulders, fleur-de-lis cartouches anchoring the composition at each base. The oval tray carries the same language along its pierced border. A bird rests on each domed lid, as if it arrived there by choice. Nothing on this service was left to chance or left unworked.
